Great teacher and incredibly intelligent human being. Berkeley and Harvard grad who is both passionate and knowledgeable. I encourage use of his office hours he is accommodating and can offer you hints as to what will be on his final.

I absolutely love Prof. Gaulin! He is so passionate about the subject, and really tries to make sure everyone gets what is going on. Answers lots of questions thoroughly and even tries to learn names in a class of like over 300 people! He is great, take the honors section to get to know him better if you can. Great prof., great class.

Dr. Gaulin is an excellent prof., he knows the material inside out. If you really want to learn something take this class. It's challenging, yet he kept me engaged throughout the entire lecture. He is very enthusiastic and enjoyable to listen to, two very high thumbs up. Take his class you will not regret it.

i disliked this class! nothing against the professsor but this subject just isnt my thing. he knows the subject so well and seems excited to teach. iclicker questions everyday and you get marked down if you answer wrong. take home mid year exam was difficulter than the final. final consist of short answers.

Gaulin was such a great prof.! He really got me interested in anthro. Lecture and section are all you need to get an A. You do not have to do the reading. I skipped lecture quite a few times and still got an A. He's really accommodating if you go to office hours too. He makes courses pretty simple to sit through as well. great class overall.

lecture incredibly dull. must attend courses, graded clicker questions in each class. take home mid year exam (very difficult) and final. Gaulin is pretty passionate about physical anth, just wasn't my thing. he sets the entire grading scheme down 5% (85 is an A-, 87.5 an A, etc.), so it's not too difficult to pull off a B+ or an A.

Do not take this class if you just need to get a GE out of the way. difficulexam class I have ever taken and I have taken a ton of courses. Average on the take-home mid year exam was a D-. The book is pointless to read and is $80 so I wouldn't recommend getting it since it is difficult to read. Must go to every lecture for iclicker questions.

This class was pretty simple. I missed a two week stretch of class right before the mid year exam and got a 96% on it. I probably opened the book twice throughout the quarter and got an A in the class. Just do the study guides.

He goes on and on without really getting to the point. I'm sure he knows his things, but I didn't get a lot out of the courses. I'm really glad he curved the mid year exam and final because the information he gives in class is not sufficient preparation.

Evolutionary Psychology is probably the most fascinating class I've ever taken, but I found it to be very difficult and there was no room for opinion in his class. the book was great and the papers were simple... or so I thought. Guess this just isn't the subject for me.. I got C's on everything :(

Class is all based on curve. Despite the average between 50%, the prof. curved it to a 75% meaning the majority of people got a C. If you study more than the average student in that class, expect a much higher grade. There is a lot of homework in that class, but it's very great review for the mid year exam and final if you spend time on it.

fascinating class, although it might be a bit dry if you are not interested in the subject. simple A if you do your work and study. Also, you can get an extra point in the class for asking an fascinating and thought-provoking question in class; he only have a point to one person, and I attended every lecture.

Take this class if you are interested in science, bio. or evolution. It's really difficult and dull but he is somewhat clear. You have to go to class and take notes because the slides will be confusing if you don't. I wouldn't take it unless you are an anthro. major

He is a intelligent person who has a passion for what he teachers. However, if you're not into biology or science in general, it will seem dull. courses and sections are crucial, though not mandatory. I recommend his class to those into science or in the anthro major.

We talked a lot about natural selection and other things. But overall, if you attended lecture and actually paid attention in class, it wasn't too difficult. Study courses and the study guide!
